Spenser Little Artwork

I went to ArtWalk on Saturday, and bought a bird mobile and a pair of bird earrings from this artist, Spenser Little. I love his stuff! I have about 5 or 6 of his works.... each piece, a single piece of wire.

Brenda York painting

Bought this one at artwork too, at ArtWalk. I just love Brenda York's style!

Philadelphia Yellow

Just got back from the Studio Art Quilt Associates/Surface Design conference in Philadelphia. These were blooming everywhere, along with daffodils, against the pale greys of the landscape.

philadelphia conference

Along with lectures, and a downtown Philadelphia gallery tour, I took a 3-day workshop. Here's one of many of my work in progress from the workshop.

philadelphia grey

Trees don't ever look like this in California. Very beautiful though.

The conference was held at the Wayne Art Center.

philadelphia workshop

Yours truly at the end of the Hollie Heller 3-day workshop, surrounded by my works in progress. I really enjoyed learning Hollie's methods and hope to take another workshop with her in the future.

philadelphia wild

another work in progress. wild colors! It's actually 2 pieces, on watercolor paper, so who knows where I'll go with this!

Workshop teacher, Hollie Heller and me. (yet again, I'm surprised I look so tall.)

philadelphia museum of art

On the last day of my trip, I visited the Philadelphia Museum of Art for the Frida Kahlo exhibit and saw their fabulous collection of impressionists. I'd never been to this museum before. Wow! Very impressive!

husb

Emulating Janey She's published an all-portrait zine that's amazing. Here's my attempt of drawing "Janey-style" my husb from a photo. I did it quickly, needless to say and it was fun. I'm going to do more of these.

SAQA conference

Dear blog readers, are any of you going to the Studio Art Quilt Associates/Surface Design conference in Philadelphia next week? I'll be there! I'm taking Hollie Heller's workshop.

leaf print

I just learned this very easy technique and I love it. It's from L.K. Ludwig's book "Mixed Media Nature Journals." You'll be seeing more of this from me, combined with drawing. You just use water soluble crayons, dipped in water, and color the real leaf. Then you lay it face down on paper (or cloth) and rub. It gives you a gorgeous print! AND you can do it on the road, in your journal. Way cool.

poms again

Have I mentioned I'm taking Susan Sorrel's online class, Fertile Earth, on joggles.com? (I'm teaching there too, so I've fallen behind in her class...) This piece was created based on her instruction. It's layered organza and stamping and embroidery.
